Healthrecon Connect is a company that specializes in technology-powered solutions for healthcare providers. The company faced significant challenges due to its monolithic architecture, where applications were in isolated modules connected to other applications that required manual intervention. This resulted in a lack of flexibility and made it difficult to adapt to changing business needs, causing maintenance and scalability issues.

To overcome these challenges, Kerner Norland proposed a solution based on a microservices architecture. A microservices architecture breaks down applications into smaller, independent services that can be developed, tested, and deployed independently of each other. By adopting a microservices architecture, Healthrecon Connect was able to transform its outdated and inflexible monolithic architecture.

The adoption of a microservices architecture provided several benefits to Healthrecon Connect. Each microservice can be scaled independently to handle changes in demand, making it easier to manage seasonal demands and adapt to changing business needs.

The adoption of a microservices architecture also made the system more manageable, as each service could be monitored and maintained independently. This made it easier to identify and fix issues, deploy new updates and features, and incorporate new technologies into the system.

Automated development with CI/CD integration was also easier to achieve with a microservices architecture, allowing for faster time-to-market for new features and updates. Cost savings were achieved through auto-scaling resources and automated manual interventions. Each service could be deployed on the appropriate resources,

optimizing resource utilization and reducing costs. Automation of manual interventions, such as claim extraction, helped the company fast-track processing, leading to quicker resolution of customer complaints and improved customer satisfaction.

To implement the microservices architecture, we utilized the AWS commercial cloud as the backbone, providing high availability and scalability. The solution encompassed an enterprise database for data storage and analytics, driven via multiple BI platforms customized for each client’s needs. Integration with a query builder gave clients the freedom to design their own reports based on criteria.

Overall, the adoption of a microservices architecture transformed Healthrecon Connect into a technology-led revenue cycle management company, with the scalability, resilience, and agility that its outdated monolithic architecture could not provide.
